We’re fans of all seasons but as country folk through and through, the transition to autumn does fill us with excitement! From the ‘Glorious’ 12th of August onwards, the evenings are starting to draw in and the occasional cool morning hints at what’s to come – autumn hunting, the leaves beginning to turn and the completion of another harvest. Those who love a day in the field can look forward to the start of the pheasant and partridge season and those jolly shoot dinners with red cheeks and tired legs.
It’s safe to say we’re a countryside business through and through, so when we were approached by a fellow rural brand we really admire, our ears immediately pricked up. Glaze & Gordon was founded by sisters Becs Gordon and Kate Glaze, as they simply couldn’t find the right blend of well-made and stylish products when shopping for countryside and equestrian clothes. They felt many products created for riders are either lacking in style or have plenty of lovely features but aren’t cut out for the wear and tear of day-to-day equestrian life. Now, Glaze & Gordon boasts a collection of tack, clothing, homewares and pet accessories from a range of brands chosen because they offer something different, and all firmly tick the boxes of style and substance.
Our collaboration with Glaze and Gordon has style and substance in spades. We’re delighted to unveil our new “Hunt Jump” fabric, a brilliant hunting pattern printed on our much-loved bamboo fabric. The fabric shows hounds racing along, horses bravely landing over giant hedges and the classic huntsman in his vivid scarlet jacket. It is being cut and stitched into our seriously comfortable roll necks as we write this, and they will be on sale very soon – pre orders being taken from 9th September and sent out 23rd September.
Perfect timing, you might say, for those autumnal adventures when the mornings can be cool, yet the days still have surprising warmth if the sun makes an appearance. A breathable, soft and temperature -regulating top is just the ticket for riding, walking or a day spent in the field…
In other news… the Magnolia Cup!
We were so looking forward to the 2021 renewal of the Magnolia Cup at Goodwood, not least because one of our favourite influencers (and G&J fan) Callie Coles was one of the competitors. Held on Ladies Day at the Glorious Goodwood meeting, the Magnolia Cup sees ten amateur female jockeys compete in a race over the famous Sussex track. It’s all in the name of charity and this year’s choice was Smart Works, which assists unemployed women with confidence and other skills ahead of a job interview.
We were cheering Callie like mad, as well as Octavia Pollock who bought one of our cool and comfortable summer stock shirts to wear for the event! In the end it was a dead heat between Thea Gosden-Hood and Candida Crawford with the lovely Callie Coles back in third place. Well done all!
