Along with your extra layer here are some further tips for keeping warm in the field….

Fuel Yourself
Essential warmth is generated from the inside, ensure your body has enough food to burn to keep you going in the cold.
Don’t forget to stay hydrated – on a cold day you can’t beat that warming feeling from a nice hot flask of soup. We like the matte green bottle from Chilly Bottles – perfect for when you are out in the field.  Take a look at Chilly Bottles.

Wear Bamboo
Bamboo clothing makes an excellent base layer, it provides essential insulation to trap your body heat, but it’s breathable and soft, with natural anti-bacterial properties, keeping you fresh,  dry and warm!
You can’t beat our range of practical country fashion roll necks, team them up under waistcoats, gilets or a jacket.  The Mustard Tattersall Check print roll neck has been our best seller this winter – it is super cosy and warm.

Layer Your Clothing

Layering helps by trapping the warm air that your body generates and is far more effective than just wearing one layer. You could go for a bamboo base layer or T shirt,  bamboo roll neck,  fleece gilet then a wind or waterproof outer layer for ideal warmth and protection from the elements.   For  an extra layer under under the mustard print roll neck you could go for the Grapemist Blue Crew Neck Tee – silky soft next to your skin and an absolute bargain at £14.50 with this special offer.
Doubling up with our scoop neck or crew neck long sleeved tees and choosing contrasting colours gives you the option to turn over the cuff for subtle outdoor winter fashion and allows you to still look great when back indoors and stripped down to a single layer.   See the complete range of base layers/Tees here.

Wear a Scarf
A scarf will keep your exposed pulse points where the blood comes to the surface warm.
A scarf is easy to remove if you start getting too hot or wrap around your face if the biting wind set in.  We love this gorgeous silk scarves by  Clare Haggas Fine Art  and here is the lovely @gamekeeperess_ with the perfect look.

Wear a Hat

Your head has a relatively large surface area and our blood vessels are much closer to the skins surface so wearing a hat will reduce your exposure to the cold.
This hat from Holland Cooper worn by @katherinecross_  gives a great pop of colour and adds to the sound defence too!

AND Don’t forget your Feet!
Wearing two sets of socks helps trap warmth; try wearing a bamboo ankle sock topped with our long bamboo socks with cushioned sole to give extra warmth and comfort.  Our long bamboo socks are well known for their staying up power and were the #No 1 sock as reviewed by Shooting UK.  They pull up to under the knee and with the waffle top stay put all day long.

Neoprene lined boots are excellent at keeping your feet warm – try the Vierzonord Le Chameau boot – they are extremely comfortable too.

With this fanatic offer now is the time to give bamboo layering a try.  Enjoy 50% off all Tee Shirts (subject to availability) when you buy a roll neck until the end of February – use code “LAYERS” whilst stocks last.
